Laneous and The Family Yah

Bubblin’ Up out of the artisan hotbed that is Brisbane’s West End – introducing the grunty Rudeboy Soul and Croon Punk of Laneous And The Family Yah. What started as a community whisper has broken out into a fire. From the Big Day Out to the screens of NME TV and recent rotation on Triple J, the dirty, hip-hop driven soul grooves of L&TFY have officially arrived.

Spotlight artists on Triple J Unearthed in June 09 and named amongst Hip Hop’s Hottest in J Mag’s City by City ‘Oz Hip Hop Special’, with the launch of their debut LP St Ill Regal and regular East Coast touring L&TFY are cementing a swiftly burgeoning reputation. And what a reputation – let’s face it, press releases are partial to hyperbole but it would be no overstatement to say that Laneous And The Family Yah have recently become one of the most talked about bands in Brisbane. This has been due largely to their live show, a 10 piece spectacle that witnesses have referred to as – quite bluntly – unparalleled. Couple this with the prestigious Q Song Hip Hop Song of the Year Award for Bubblegum, both Searing Life and Bubblegum enjoying radio play Nationwide including rotation on Triple J for Searing Life and a Debut LP that has both critics and fans picking their jaws up from the floor.

Georgia Potter

With a voice twice the size her little stature implies, Georgia takes to the stage with a candid grandeur that’s both endearing and addictive. The young wordsmith & her band of four gentle men deliver her versatile & occasionally epic compositions as a mix of smooth & punchy neo-soul & hiphop with tense, fragile indie-folk that reclines on a thick bed of poetry and philosophy. Her sound is injecting a fresh, vibrant new vision into the world of the solo female artist and though it may occasionally echo the likes of Lauryn Hill or Hollie Smith, it’s tied together with a charm that is completely her own.
