Angie Hart
In the 21st century, singer-songwriter Angie Hart has stepped out from the shadow of hit pop band Frente, and finally become her own entity. After many years of globetrotting, followed by a stint in LA with second band ʻSplendidʼ, Angie returned to home soil and in 2007 released her first solo offering Grounded Bird (ABC Music). Settling back in Melbourne and co-writing with the likes of Ben Lee, Geoff OʼConnor (Crayon Fields, Sly Hats), and Mark Seymour (Hunters and Collectors) has been a creative and fruitful period in Angieʼs life. Add to that a new recording environment and a collaborative partnership with producer Shane Nicholson (Itʼs A Movie, Familiar Ghosts, Kasey Chambers, Pretty Violet Stain) and her sophomore solo album Eat My Shadow was born (ABC Music, 2009).
Matthew Barber
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Matthew Barber returned with his fourth studio album on February 23, 2010 on Outside Music. True Believer is the follow-up to the internationally acclaimed and Juno-nominated record Ghost Notes (2008, Outside Music); Barber enlisted producer and local hero Howie Beck (Hayden, Jason Collett) to man the helm. The result has been an artistic alchemy that takes Barber’s trademark melodies to new heights. Plans are being set for him to tour Canada, the U.S., Europe, Australia and beyond in support of this fine record.
